Nintendo announced it is now taking pre-orders for both the full Virtual Boy unit and cardboard model for the Switch and Switch 2. Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can order each from the official site. The one made of cardboard is $24.99, while the plastic full replica of the system costs $99.99. This comes ahead of the official February 17, 2026 debut. [Thanks, Wario64!]

In the case of the cardboard model, you get the cardboard holder to put together. You then slip your Switch, OLED Switch, or Switch 2 inside with the Joy-Cons or Joy-Cons 2 attached to the system. (The Switch Lite isn’t compatible.) You then control the games by holding the console in the model up to your face.

With the Virtual Boy replica, it works more like the original system with a Switch, OLED Switch, or Switch 2. Someone disconnects the controllers from the system, then loads the console into the headset. You then lean into it, like you would with the original system, and use the controllers separately to play the games. (Again, Switch Lite systems aren’t compatible.)

Here are the official photos showing both versions of the devices.

The Virtual Boy Switch and Switch 2 NSO games and headset peripherals will appear on February 17, 2026, and some of the confirmed games are Galactic Pinball and Teleroboxer
