The worldwide release date of Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris has been delayed from May to July due to COVID-19 concerns.

The official website for Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris posted a message from producer Yosuke Futami concerning the situation in Japanese.

Bandai Namco shared a translated message from Yosuke Futami, the executive producer for Sword Art Online game titles:

We have been working hard on Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris for our fans who are looking forward to the next Sword Art Online title. Due to the ongoing world events, we have made the difficult decision to move the release date of Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoriss to July 10, 2020. We believe that this is the best way to ensure that Sword Art Online fans are delivered the best Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris experience.”

Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris’ original release date in Japan was May 21, 2020 for PS4 and Xbox One and May 22, 2020 for PC via Steam. The release date of the PS4 and Xbox One version in Japan is now July 9, 2020 and Steam on July 10, 2020.
