Buzz around a new Taiko no Tatsujin game sprung up from a translated song list over at Game|Life. There are some interesting songs on the list like “Natsumatsuri”, which is probably a cover of the fast paced J-pop song performed by Whiteberry. Like other Taiko no Tatsujin games the DS title adds in classical music like William Tell Overture and Flight of the Bumblebee. Probably the most exciting song on the list is the Super Mario Brothers theme, which appeared in an arcade version of Taiko no Tatsujin. The Mario theme is the sole entry in the game music section, but since this is the first Taiko no Tatsujin title on Nintendo systems it’s possible that more Nintendo themes will appear on the list. Another mystery about the game is how it’s going to be played. The bottom screen might have a virtual Taiko drum that you can tap, but I imagine that interface would be cumbersome. You would need two styli and have to hold the DS in your lap to emulate the arcade experience. Maybe it’s better just to stick to plain old button pressing like Namco Bandai did in Taiko no Tatsujin Portable.
