During the TGS 2026 Capcom Spotlight stream, the company revealed Teostra will be an Elder Dragon returning for the Monster Hunter Wilds Ascendance and showed off what we can expect from The Skybound Eyrie and the new monsters appearing there. The presentation also confirmed there will be Araketa bird wyverns and the Gundoraja Elder Dragon present in the expansion, and reiterated that the Elder Dragon Lao-Shan Lung assaulted the Eastlands. That part of the segment also confirmed the expansion demo will be playable at Paris Games Week between October 22-25, 2026 and Twitch Con 2026 in San Diego between November 13-15, 2026.
Teostra has been around in the Monster Hunter series since the second game appeared on the PS2 in 2006. It’s an Elder Dragon known for its fiery attacks. We’ve also seen it around fairly recently, as the character also appeared in the expansions for Monster Hunter World and Monster Hunter Rise. It’s another classic creature joining Lao-Shan Lung, who first appeared in the original 2004 PS2 game. We haven’t seen that Elder Dragon since Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate, however.
Meanwhile, Araketa and Gundoraja are both new creations. The former is a wyvern shown to fly in flocks. The latter is another flying Elder Dragon who’s shown up in trailers before.

The Monster Hunter Wilds Switch 2 release date is December 4, 2026, and the game is already on the PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC. The Ascendance expansion is also in development, and we’ll see that in 2027. That expansion will also appear on the Switch 2.
