Tetris 99 Pokemon Sword And Shield Event Makes It Look Like Your Opponents Are Pokemon You Are Catching

Recommended Videos

The next Tetris 99 Maximus Cup has been revealed, and it has a “catch ‘em all” element to it. This will be a Tetris 99 Pokemon Sword and Shield event. The background will show Galar’s Wild Area, each of the other 98 players’ boards will have sprites of different Pokemon you’ll find in the new games, and when you defeat someone, it looks like you have “captured” that Pokemon. This 9th Maximus Cup will be held November 8-12, 2019.

All of the Pokemon appearing in this Tetris 99 Pokemon Sword and Shield theme are returning characters or ones so far revealed by Game Freak. For example, Galarian Ponyta is in the very bottom right corner in the video below, while Sobble is two rows above it.

Here is a video clip of the Tetris 99 Pokemon Sword and Shield theme. Naturally, it features music and sound effects from the new game.

Other recent Maximus Cups offered people a chance to get Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Luigi’s Mansion 3, and Super Kirby Clash themes.

Tetris 99 is available for all Nintendo Switch Online subscribers. Pokemon Sword and Shield will come to the Nintendo Switch on November 15, 2019.
