Years ago Sony Online Entertainment announced The Agency, an espionage themed MMO that puts players in the shoes of a super spy. Other than squashing cancelation rumors, SOE hasn’t said much about it.

The US trademark database brings us some news about The Agency, possibly indicating a name change. Sony Online Entertainment filed a trademark for The Agency Covert Ops on February 18, 2010. SOE wouldn’t register a trademark for a dead game so it looks like The Agency is still in development – that is unless The Agency Covert Ops is being reserved for another game.
At GDC ‘09, Sony Online Entertainment said The Agency was on target for launch in 2010. The game is being made for PCs and PlayStation 3.
