The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses Episode 7 Recap: The Glasses Are Here

An absentminded middle schooler who constantly misplaces her glasses and her deskmate who can’t contain his romantic feelings for her is a recipe for a heartfelt romance anime. Based on the manga series of the same name by Koume Fujichika, The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses anime premiered in July 2023. In The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses Episode 7, Kaede Koruma takes home Mie-san’s glasses for the weekend, but having her belongings in his possession makes it extremely hard for him to focus.

In the previous episode, “The Girl I Like and I Welcomed The New School Term,” Komura finds himself seated next to Ai Mie, much to his excitement, as they prepare to start a new school term. In Episode 7, “I Brought Home the Girl I Like’s Glasses,” we start the school term with the teacher diving the class into pairs and instructing them to draw portraits of one another. Mie and Komura are paired together, but Mie doesn’t have her glasses, so she struggles to complete the task. Komura says he’ll appreciate anything Mie draws. Mie asks if she can draw him as “she imagines him,” which makes Komura flustered. When they exchange drawings, Komura is enamored with Mie’s depiction of him, saying that he wants to put it on his front door. The teacher says she’ll be collecting the drawings and the students can’t keep them. After the intro plays, Mie’s friend Someya finds her in the bathroom. Mie struggles to recognize her without her glasses. Someya comments on Mie’s eyelashes, asking if they’re fake, to which Mie replies no. Someya also believes Mie has nice skin, but Mie asks her not to look so closely. Mie sees Komura in class and gets too close to him, which freaks him out. When Komura arrives home, he declares that he’s brought Mie’s glasses home with him, which essentially means that he brought a “piece” of Mie home with him. Mei’s classmates invite her to walk home with them, prompting Mie to leave her glasses behind in a hurry. Komura finds Mie’s glasses and texts Mie to tell her. She tells him to leave them behind, but Komura doesn’t want to leave them at school over the weekend. Mie gives him permission to take them home, much to Komura’s delight. Komura questions if there’s something “pervy” about bringing Mie’s glasses home. Komura’s mother notes his weird behavior, but chalks it up to puberty. Later that evening, he tries to study, but the thought of her glasses are distracting him. He tries to wear the glasses himself, but later thinks it’s wrong of him to do so. That same night, Mie is reading with her back-up glasses. She becomes self-conscious and hopes that she didn’t leave fingerprints on her other pair. Little does she know that Komura cleaned them for her. Komura gets an incoming call from Mie, who thanks him for taking care of her glasses. She asks him if they were dirty, then tells him that her glasses being in her house is almost like she’s visiting for the weekend. After Mie says all of that, Komura struggles to sleep for the whole weekend. On Monday, they return to school. Komura notes how Mie gets too close to him for no reason. While leaning into him, Mie stumbles forward and the pair press their chests together. This makes Komura panic. Mie then goes off on a tangent about how she’s gotten so close to someone before that their foreheads touched, then another incident where she touched lips with someone. Komura blushes, but she assures him that it was her father with whom she touched lips, and she was a young child at the time. Mie reassures him that it hasn’t happened since, and she doesn’t want Komuro to think she’s a “bad girl.” Komuro mentions that Mie also seems flustered, but he dismisses it. A fellow classmate then butts in to point out that Mie has a bed head. Mie turns to Komura to ask if her hair is “weird,” since she can’t see it herself without her glasses. Komura tells her it looks fine, which eases her worries. Later that day, Komura says his shoulder hurts. Mie offers him a shoulder rub, during which Komura notes how good she is at it. He thanks her afterwards, and she makes a note that Komura enjoys her shoulder rubs. When he asks what she’s doing, she replies that she’s making note of ways to reward him for his good deeds. Komura wishes she’d write “be by his side” as a way to reward him. A few hours pass and Mie finds Komura sleeping before sixth period. She’s infatuated with how peaceful he looks in this state and can’t help but play with his hands. When Komura wakes up, Mie apologizes, but says that she didn’t forget her glasses today and wanted to get a good look at him. Mie offers for him to get a good look at her too, but Komura says that’s going too far. The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses is available to stream on Crunchyroll. The manga is managed by Square Enix.
