Takara Tomy announced it will rerelease its The History Collection: PlayStation line of gachapon toys that brings miniature replica PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5 consoles to capsule machines. These first showed up in Japan in February 2026, and they will be back in the country on October 26, 2026. It will again cost 500 yen (~$3) per try.
This The History Collection: PlayStation run is identical to the original, so that means we’re seeing the exact same PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5 replica consoles, accessories, and game discs. The PS1 comes with a miniature wired controller, memory card, and copy of Arc the Lad. The PS2 has a wired controller, memory card, and Ape Escape 3 with it. The PS3 comes with a Sixaxis Dualshock 3 wireless controller and Everybody’s Golf replica. The PS4 has a DualShock 4 wireless controller and Gravity Rush 2. Finally, the PS5 has the wireless Dualsense controller and a copy of Astro Bot.
Each teeny game also has a disc with it that can be used with the console. In the case of the PS1 and PS2, there are moving parts on the systems too. The lid lifts on the original console, and the disc tray pops out on the other.
Here’s the official image that shows what all the console replicas will look like when they return and highlight what each random capsule comes with when you get any system.

As a reminder, the original run of these toys did not show up in capsule machines in the US. As such, we likely won’t see that happen with this rerelease. Instead, someone might need to turn to eBay or online retailers like Simply Toyz.
The Takara Tomy The History Collection: PlayStation PS1, PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5 replica consoles will show up as gachapon toys in Japan again starting on October 26, 2026, and it’s unknown if we’ll see them in capsule machines in the US.
