The Idolmaster: Million Live! Will Get an Anime Adaptation

During a July 4, 2020 The Idolmaster: Million Live! Theatre Days 3rd Anniversary celebration livestream, Bandai Namco revealed that The Idolmaster: Million Live! will be getting its own anime adaptation. This makes it the fourth series in the franchise to get its own anime.

Not much information has been revealed regarding the anime, as “the project has just begun” according to Bandai Namco. The company hopes that players will wait a bit longer for more information on it. That said, it was revealed via Famitsu that the animation will be done by the anime studio Shirogumi and will be directed by Shinya Watada of Aikatsu Stars fame. The series composition and script will be handled by Aikatsu! and Yo-kai Watch writer Youichi Katou. Previous The Idolmaster series anime adaptations (based on the original console series, Cinderella Girls, and SideM) were handled by A-1 Pictures and featured 2D animation dance sequences.

Although the anime was announced during the Theatre Days livestream, the anime is only titled Million Live!, based on the original social game that released in 2013. The Idolmaster: Million Live! features a cast of new idols alongside the original Idolmaster cast at 765PRO and, although the original browser game was shut down in 2018, Theatre Days features the idols in a rhythm game format similar to other entries in this genre.

The Idolmaster: Million Live! Theatre Days is currently available for iOS and Android devices. Several of the idols featured in this game are also set to appear in the latest console game, The Idolmaster: Starlit Season.
