Nintendo has had enough of the R4. While the flashcard has positive purposes like homebrew, Nintendo and 54 other publishers believe the device threatens software sales in Japan. A newly submitted court order demands companies cease sales and distribution of the R4 in Japan. You would think every publisher and developer working on DS games in Japan would join the suit, but only 54 third parties are on the ticket. Twenty four of them are specifically named and they are:
Arc System Works
Digital Kids (Ubisoft Nagoya)
Hudson, but not their parent company Konami? They’re probably one of the 30 companies not named. I’m curious to know which publishers aren’t part of the ruling, but I don’t think we’ll ever find out unless someone tracks down a complete third party list. This is probably obvious since the court order was filed in Japan, but the ruling, regardless of the decision, will only affect Japan.
