The Missing Portable Metal Gear Solid Game

Tiger Electronics, the company behind the Furby and a ton of 1980s LCD games, tried to compete with Nintendo by making the Game.com handheld. In some ways the Game.com was ahead of its time. More interesting than the touch screen Lights Out game was Tiger’s licensing strategy. They worked out deals with Sega, Capcom, and Konami to bring watered down versions of Fighters Mega Mix, Resident Evil 2, and Metal Gear Solid to Game.com. However, adaptations of Metal Gear Solid and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night never came out. Images of the unreleased Metal Gear Solid game have surfaced, thanks to diligent digging by the folks at the Lost Levels.

Here’s a look at what we missed out on, maybe. It’s unclear how deep into development Tiger was.
