In the sudden Nintendo Direct mini that was uploaded today, Nintendo revealed that the next fighter for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a character from the Nintendo Switch fighting game, ARMS.
The teaser showed off all the currently available characters in ARMS, but didn’t specify which character it will be. The character will play differently from other characters, especially as their arms can extend very far as part of the game’s mechanics. As such, more development time is needed before the character is able to be released.
According to Nintendo, the ARMS character will be released in June 2020.
As part of the character announcement, Nintendo also revealed that ARMS is getting a Free Game Trial for Nintendo Switch Online members to try out. Essentially, between today (March 26) to April 6, 2020, the full game will be available to play, so players can try out the stretchy fighter for themselves.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available for Nintendo Switch.
