The “revolution” in New Zealand Story DS

Rising Star Games released fifty new screenshots of New Zealand Story Revolution, which is coming out for the Nintendo DS. Back in the NES / Genesis days Taito released the New Zealand Story under the name Kiwi Kraze. It was never a big hit, but when I was a kid I remember enjoying the game. The DS version looks like it’s pretty much the same platformer as the arcade and home releases with a few extras. For instance the boss battles now take place on two screens. Also there are some mini games such as the photo hunt game in the picture. You have to pick out differences between the top and bottom pictures by using the touch screen. In another mini game you balance a pole on the touch screen to keep Tiki’s balance. These additions are far from a revolution, but that doesn’t mean Rising Star Games can’t make a good platformer out of one of Taito’s classics. New Zealand Story Revolution is scheduled to arrive in Oceania on January 25 and a European release comes out the week after on February 2. No publisher has announced that they would bring the game outside of Rising Star’s territory, but Codemasters has a good relationship with them.
