Curve Games will be bringing Size Five Games’s cybercrime caper The Swindle to PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, PlayStation Vita, Wii U, and Xbox One this year. The game will also be coming to PC at the same time as announced last year.
The Swindle has been described by its creator as a mix of Spelunky and Deus Ex. The reason being that it has both steampunk and cyberpunk elements and uses procedural generation to keep each level fresh. It’s a very loose comparison that the studio admits doesn’t really capture what The Swindle is all about.
You play a thief who is tasked with breaking into procedurally generated buildings. There are several ways in that you’ll have to explore for yourself. Once you do get in, you’ll want to hack into their systems, steal the cash, and then get out of there before you can get caught. If you set the alarms off then you’ll have to drop the stealth game and go full action hero, jumping through windows to escape the cops.
If you do get caught then you’ll lose all the riches that you stole. But if you manage to get away and back to your hideout then you can start upgrading your character. New equipment and gear will help you take on bigger buildings with better security but also with bigger cash piles inside.
That’s the gist of The Swindle. You can see it in action in the trailer above. And if you want more details on it then its website should suffice.
