This is how manga is read on the DS, a look at Phoenix

Compile Heart quietly delayed the release of DS de Yomo Series: Hi no Tori again, but it’s really (probably?) coming out on July 31. Instead of a teaser page with colorful art Compile Heart has a look at the final product which isn’t read in book style. The touch screen is used to flip pages and select a manga cell. When you blow up an image it’s shown on the top screen. If the cell’s length is greater than the size of the touch screen it scrolls upwards. Compile Heart added minimal dramatic effects to DS de Yomo Series: Hi no Tori like shaking the cells as it scrolls.

As for extras the features are light. You get character profiles and the ability to save (read: bookmark) your “progress”. Remember the entire manga is split into two cartridges, which means you have to spend around $80 to complete the story.
