GungHo, the company that handles Grandia Online in Japan, also runs a free to play online shooter called Toy Wars from Gravity Games. In this game tiny collectable figures come to life for deathmatches behind your couch.
Toy Wars now has character parts based on the movie The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. There are items to change your avatar into Haruhi, Haruhi in her Koyoen Academy uniform, Yuki Nagato, and Mikuru Asahina.
These items actually boost your character’s stats. Haruhi’s hair, for example, boosts movement speed by 1.8% and adds 28 to HP. Her sailor suit bumps movement speed up an additional 2.4% and HP by 44. Knee-high socks? Those are worth another 2% movement speed bonus and 36 HP.
Each Haruhi item costs 300 yen ($4) or you can get a whole set for 3,000 yen ($36). GungHo is also selling a blue flashlight item that gives a character an extra 20 bullets of machine gun ammo. Proceeds from this virtual item will go towards those affected by the Tohoku earthquake.
