This Week In Imports: Rune Emblem la Kill 2020

The latest Fire Emblem game, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, is set to release this week, adding a new Officer’s Academy “school” portion where you have even more choices than before for raising your students into efficient killing machines, in addition to a revamped SRPG portion. The game concerns a teacher who must choose between three houses, each led by a future country leader, and stick with them until whatever bitter end awaits them.

 

Rune Factory 4 Special releases just a day before Fire Emblem, bringing Rune Factory back from the hibernation that it has been in since 2012. This port adds in HD graphics, a new UI to match the single-screen gameplay, and a Newlywed Mode that features new story and Live2D technology.

 

Finally, the third game of note this week is Kill la Kill: IF, which is being published by Arc System Works. This game is a 3D fighter which has some very Kill la Kill mechanics, such as a rock-paper-scissors mechanic in the form of argument matches in the heat of battle.

 

(Oh, and Sega’s official licensed game for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics also releases this week.)
