The week’s two driving Japanese releases are Nintendo’s latest kaizo level creator Super Mario Maker 2, and the return of the fan-favorite SNK fighting game series Samurai Shodown. Super Mario Maker 2 adds in a Story Mode to get familiar with level creation, slopes and more objects, and a new theme with the Super Mario 3D World theme. Meanwhile, Samurai Shodown marks the return of the Samurai Shodown II style of gameplay, and is the first full-3D game in the series.
There are also several other noteworthy titles to mention this week, including Acquire and Nippon Ichi’s To All Mankind which is a lighthearted yuri take on the post-apocalypse genre; KonoSuba: Labyrinth of Hope and the Gathering Adventurers, which is more notable for its many delays rather than that its a light novel IP-based dungeon crawler; and Hardcore Mecha, which is an 2D mecha action game created by a Chinese indie studio.
