The latest Sword Art Online action-RPG, Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, launches this week. But that’s not the only significant release coming to Japan. Deadly Premonition 2, a sequel to the cult classic survival horror game, is releasing ten years later as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Finally, the Bloodstained series gets a third entry with Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2.
SAO: Alicization Lycoris takes place in a world where the events of the anime diverge after a certain point. The game follows an original plotline that delves more into the different factions in Underworld and introduces a new heroine called Medina Orthinanos. You’ll get to see Kirito fighting alongside the Integrity Knights, as well asother heroines like Sinon, Lisbeth, and Silica.
Deadly Premotion 2, meanwhile, is both a prequel and sequel to the original game. It, in part, follows a new FBI Special Agent named Aaliya Davis in Boston. Aaliya reopens an investigation into events that took place fourteen years earlier in the city of Le Carré, and her story will intertwine with that of Deadly Premonition protagonist York, who was the one in charge of investigating the previous case.
Finally, Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 2 is a sequel to the 8-bit style spin-off developed by Inti Creates as a Kickstarter stretch goal reward for Ritual of the Night. The game takes place after the events of the first, and it features three new playable characters and co-op.
