Toki Tori Dev Confirms Metal-Wrecking Shooter RIVE For Wii U, PS4, Xbox One, And PC

Toki Tori developer Two Tribes has announced that its upcoming 2.5D platform-shooter RIVE is heading to Wii U, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC via Steam in early 2015.

RIVE is a drastic change in pace for Two Tribes, as is demonstrated in the trailer above, which starts off with the gentle tones of its Toki Tori series, and then suddenly bursts into action. As you’ll see, RIVE is all metalwork, guns, and explosions – no cute birdies here.

But, RIVE isn’t just a 360 degree shooter with, as Two Tribes puts it, “old school gaming values in a decidedly new school execution.” In this world of robots you’ll also need to hack your enemies to overcome them. Bullets aren’t always the immediate solution.

Unfortunately, at this point in time, Two Tribes hasn’t said much about this hacking side of the game. All we do know is that you have to collect and upload these hacks in order alter the behavior of your robotic enemies.

Still, it looks like it should provide plenty of over-the-top explosive action, and if there’s a slight puzzle element to add to that with this hacking business, then all should be good.

You can find more information about RIVE on its Two Tribes’s announcement page.
