Tokyo Xanadu’s Newest Party Member Is A Great Sword User

tokyo-xanadu_150224

Falcom recently revealed Tokyo Xanadu’s fifth party member as Mitsuki Hokuto, a third-year president of the student council and daughter of the “Hokuto Group”. In this week’s issue of Dengeki PlayStation, we’re introduced to a new character named Shio Makoto. [Thanks, Game Jouhou]

Shio Takahata:

Shio is an 18-year-old with a Fire-type attribute and uses a great sword as a weapon. Hes’s a bit reserved and single-minded. He used to be the head of a famous delinquent group called BLAZE, and was loved by the members; however, he withdrew from the group after an incident that occurred a year prior.

Since then, there’ve been rumors about how that group has disbanded, but at the same time, there’s been someone going around causing trouble under the name of BLAZE.

Shio isn’t the fastest of attackers, but he makes up for it by having a powerful attack to go with good range. Here are some of his abilities:

Flare Slash (Shooting Skill): launches a flaming slash attack to the front.

Blast Edge (Aerial Skill): Rushes towards the enemy at full speed with the force of his sword swing.

Ignis Break (Heavy Skill): a grand slash that starts from the ground and up.

Crimson Raid (X-Strike): after landing multiple slashes, he jumps up, surrounds herself with a blazing aura and charges towards the enemy from above.

Update: Initial reports by  Hachima mentioned the possibility of Shio likely being the character shown in the above image, which was shown during the PlayStation 2015 Spring and Summer lineup video, now it says she remains unknown. However the earlier reports didn’t have indication on whether Shio is a male or female, which makes sense considering “Shio” can be used as a girl’s name. Also, the girl shown in above seems to have electric powers, so we can rule her out for being the new character, so  we’ll go with the blonde character shown on the top image. He’s also voiced by Kosuke Toriumi, so it’d be a little strange, otherwise.

Tokyo Xanadu will release in Japan on September 30, 2015 for PlayStation Vita.
