Koei Tecmo announced that their historic hunting game series Toukiden is getting a new smartphone game called Toukiden Mononofu, a free-to-play title expected to launch in 2016.

No gameplay details were shared for the upcoming smartphone game, but we got a glimpse of what it’s about with a bit on its story.

Eight years ago an Oni gate opened in the northern lands, bringing countless “Oni” to the human realm.

After the lands burned for seven days and seven nights from the catastrophic event known as the “Awakening,” and it was thanks to the Slayers that things went back to the way they were.

However, nobody knew about what happened in the northern lands that got abandoned after battle.

While surrounded by the Oni, there was one village that continued fighting for their lives. The village of Shinonome.

Toukiden: Mononofu will release in Japan in 2016 for Android and iOS.
