A new game collection has been announced. Derek Yu, Eirik Suhrke, Jon Perry, Paul Hubans, and Ojiro Fumoto are developing UFO 50, a collection of 50 8-bit indie, original games. It is currently in development for the PC, but could come to other platforms. Each game will have a single player mode, while one third of the collection will also have competitive or cooperative multiplayer modes.
UFO 50’s creators are known for some rather amazing games. Derek Yu made Spelunky, Eternal Daughter, and Aquaria. Eirik Suhrke did the soundtracks for Spelunky, Super Crate Box, Downwell and Ridiculous Fishing. Jon Perry worked on Eternal Daughter, Time Barons, and Diabolika. Paul Hubans made Madhouse and The Indie Game Legend. Ojiro Fumoto made Downwell. They are all collaborating on art, design, and programming for each of the 50 games, though each game does have one of the participants as a director.
