Updated Wii games preview – new games covered

At Nintendo’s Japanese press conference plenty of games were showcased and a lot of them were new. Instead of focusing on the big titles like Super Mario Galaxy, Sonic and the Secret Rings or Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess, we’re going to cover the new and lesser known upcoming Wii games.

Sengoku Musou Wave (Samurai Warriors Wave)

Koei is bringing Sengoku Musou to the Wii, but it isn’t anything like the Samurai Warriors you know. Sengoku Musou Wave is more like an arcade hack-n-slash game where samurai jump in the front of the screen and you use the controller as a sword to fend them off. It has more in common with Dragon Quest Swords or Kenshin Dragon Quest than other Samurai Warriors games.

Wii’s Beginning

Hajimete no Wii is a package of seven simple games including shooting, billiards, hockey, and ping pong. This looks like a bunch of tech demos rolled into one package.

Shin Chan: Who’s the Strongest in the Family?

Long running mischevious anime star, Shin Chan is getting his first console game since

Crayon Shin-Chan: Osagusu Dobon for the Super Famicom. The latest Shin Chan game is a 3D party game. The game keeps track of how many calories you burn while playing it, so it could be used as a diet game.

Cooking Mama

Taito’s cooking game, Cooking Mama, was just introduced to North America care of Majesco. Meanwhile Taito has been working on a Wii update.

The Dog Island

Based on the popular the Dog franchise, the Dog Island is an adventure game.

Fire Emblem: Goddess of Dawn

Not much is known about the game, except that it looks a lot like the rest of the Fire Emblem series. Even the graphic style looks similar to Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance, which came out for the Gamecube.

Pokemon Battle Coliseum

Bleach: Shiraha Kirameku Rinbukyoku

Sega is continuing to use the Bleach license for fighting games, but Bleach: Shiraha Kirameku Rinbukyoku lets players use the controller as a virtual sword. Confirmed characters in the game include Ichigo and Renji.

Wing Island

Previously Wing Island was speculated as the next Pilotwings, but instead it is an original stunt flying game.

Necro-Nesia

This is an original intellectual property by Spike where you battle giant bugs. Players can move around with the analog stick while the remote is used as a virtual weapon.

Trauma Center: Second Opinion

Atlus’ medical drama game is getting a major remake with all new controls, graphics, voices and a second doctor. The story still revolves around medical terrorism and a mysterious disease known as GUILT. This time you will have new tools like a defibrillator and refined skills of Derek’s healing touch to get you through the game.
