Useful Early Game Recipes in Sea of Stars

Early on during Sea of Stars, players unlock the option to prepare useful food recipes that keep the party healthy during the various treks through dungeons that the game awaits. Some recipes offer HP or MP restoration (or both), while others can heal a substantial amount of HP to the entire party, or heal a character from being knocked out. Since skills are limited to a handful per character, and MP is an extremely valuable and limited resource, we have gathered a list of useful recipes that can be found during the early game of Sea of Stars, and that will prove essential through a large portion of the game. Here is what each of them do and where to find them.

Best Early Food Recipes in Sea of Stars

The Chaudreé is the very first recipe you can find in Sea of Stars, and probably one of the most useful ones. It can replenish 8 MP for one ally, and it only requires two potatoes, two seafood units, and one milk bottle. It is located in the Mountain Trail of Evermist Island. The chest containing the recipe is hidden by the mist, and it can be found shortly after Garl joins your party.

The Mushroom Scramble is another great recipe that restores 35 HP and 5 MP. A great alternative when an ally is on the brink of death and can’t perform any moves other than a bsic attack. It requires three mushrooms and two eggs, which are very easy to find once you reach Sleeper Island. The recipe can be found inside the Mist Trials, particularly inside the central trial.

Not to be confused with the scramble, the Mushroom Soup can heal 40 HP to the entire party. This one is a fantastic alternative to Zale and Valere’s healing combo, since you can stock a few of this item and it doesn’t require combo points to perform. It can be found on the Moorlands, the first area of the Sleeper Island. However, reaching it can be tricky.

The recipe is inside a chest located inside a water cavern with a couple of enemies. After leaving the cave, turn to the right and platform your way up the terrain. Once on the top, there will be an opening to the cave. Jump from the North side of the opening and you can access the recipe.

The Papillotte will allow you to heal an ally from being K.O. and recover 50% of their health. This can be super useful during a boss fight or when a character has been knocked out too many times in a row. It can be bought in the Port Town of Brisk of Sleeper Island for 110 gold in the store shown in the gallery below.

The Hearty Stew is a straight upgrade to the handful of HP recovering recipes you start with, and it recovers a whopping 90 HP to one single ally. The chest containing the recipe can be found up a ladder inside a building  in the Flooded Graveyard of Wraith Island, shortly after your fourth party members joins and you start the mission to find a Soul Stone.

Sea of Stars is now available for the Nintendo Switch, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
