Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen Launches and Gives Folks Another Vita Game

Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen is here, and it is notable for many reasons. First, this means that NIS America has completed the whole Utawarerumono storyline and made it possible for more people to better understand the Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth follow-ups already available. But also, this means the PlayStation Vita has received another new game from a major third-party publisher in 2020.

While it is only arriving on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita now, Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen is the game that kicked the whole series off. Players follow an amnesiac named Hakuowlo, a man with a mysterious mask, who was injured and rescued by a woman with animal ears and a tail. He’s accepted by her village and given an opportunity to make a home, but corrupt governments end up leading to him becoming head of a rebellion that could change the face of that world’s society. The story is told through visual novel scenes, while battles are turn-based, tactical affairs.

Here’s the Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen launch trailer.

Utawarerumono: Prelude to the Fallen is available for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita. If you have both, there is cross-save functionality between the two versions. Utawarerumono: Mask of Deception and Mask of Truth are both available on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita worldwide, and both are also headed to PCs.
