While Elite Beat Agents is based off of Ouendan, it has a different setting and all new music. What Elite Beat Agents keeps is the gameplay and wacky humor that made it a hit in the first place. Sum 41’s song “Make the Difference” has Chris, a movie director making a popcorn flick where the hero has to outrun a giant boulder and fight Meowzilla at the end. April Lavigne’s “Sk8ter boi” is about a taxi cab driver driving as fast as he can to bring a pregnant mother to the hospital. He is going to have to outrun the police, but he has the help of the Elite Beat Agents to cheer him on. The “Y.M.C.A.” addition has a particularly amusing video where you help an underwater treasure hunter battle a giant octopus and dance with a fish. My personal favorite video is surprisingly Earth Wind & Fire’s “September” where the Elite Beat Agents help Sofie blow away clouds to make a sunny day for her kid to go out and play. The song fits perfectly with the on screen taps and I can’t wait to play it next week when Elite Beat Agents comes to North America.
