Watch Yoshitaka Amano Draw Cuphead Art

Studio MDHR got artist Yoshitaka Amano to create new Cuphead character art ahead of the game’s Japanese debut. While the game showed up in the country digitally already, the physical release occurred in the region on April 20, 2023. Amano’s art is the cover art for the soundtrack included with it.

First, Yoshitaka Amano draws the Cuphead characters like the Devil, Cuphead, and Mugman while looking at Studio MDHR reference art. The brothers appear first. After that, the antagonist is designed with the brothers and Ms. Chalice with them. In the third piece, the two cups appear together. Work on the final design begins at about the 4:35 mark.

While Yoshitaka Amano is arguably best known for Final Fantasy art, the artist worked on a number of additional series. For example, he drew a Detective Comics Batman cover. He also drew a Harley Quinn comic cover. He’s designed Magic the Gathering cards too.

Cuphead is available on the Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. So is its The Delicious Last Course DLC. A cartoon based on the game can be streamed via Netflix. People with Tesla cars can also play a version of the shoot’em up on that as well.
