While you are given a choice of what to name your character in Persona 3 Reload, some fans may want to stick to the series’ official lore when naming their hero. Here is what to name the protagonist in Persona 3 Reload if you want to use his canon title.
Persona 3 main character name
In Persona 3 Reload, the protagonist’s official name is Makoto Yuki or Minato Arisato. When Persona 3 was originally released in 2006 on the PlayStation 2, the main character was initially known as the “hero” or just the “male protagonist.” However, in the Persona 3 Manga released in 2007, the blue-haired protagonist was finally given an official name, Minato Arisato.
Despite being named in the manga adaptation, Atlus changed the character’s title to Makoto Yuki with the release of Persona 3 The Movie in 2013. Since then, official Persona projects have used the Makoto name. For example, games such as Persona 3: Dancing in Moonlight and Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight have called the character Yuki.
Finally, the 2023 re-release of Persona 3 Portable uses Makoto Yuki as the default name for the protagonist if players don’t pick their own title. So it appears that Atlus has finally settled on a set name for the series’ lore. Ultimately, there is no right or wrong choice here. For those who care about his canon title, you will want to use Makoto Yuki to name the protagonist in Persona 3 Reload.
However, fans who grew up on the Persona 3 Manga can also use Minato Arisato. Or, if you don’t care about lore at all, you can get creative and choose whichever name you want! I’ll admit I struggle when it comes to naming my protagonists in games. So, I tend to use the official names of characters. If you are like me, then you can go with Makoto Yuki!
