Out of the compilation of Final Fantasy VII series, Crisis Core a PSP game announced over a year ago fell off the radar. The short anime trailer shown on the Advent Children disc doesn’t represent the actual gameplay. During Square-Enix’s press conference we got a chance to check out the progress of Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core. Instead of focusing on Cloud, Crisis Core centers around Zack. Crisis Core is set before the events of Final Fantasy VII where Shinra Corporation was building Mako reactors and refining material. The trailer that was shown off started with Zack already enrolled in SOLDIER. A young Zack meets up with one of the Turks and speaks to Sephiroth, one of the elite SOLDIER units. Sephiroth speaks about “project genesis” and has a quick sword fight with Zack. Like Cloud, Zack wants to rise to the level of Sephiroth’s rank in SOLDIER. No in gameplay footage was shown, but we did see scenes of Aerith’s church and a quick clip of Bahamut. Crisis Core is still a work in progress, but check below for another screenshot of the game.
