One of the A-rank Notorious Marks players can tackle in Final Fantasy XVI is the Muddy Murder hunt. This one features a rather challenging optional boss known as the Flan Prince. If you want the renown, experience, gil, and items that this enemy offers, you’ll have to find where the creature is in Rosaria first.
So where is the Muddy Murder Flan Prince Notorious Mark in Final Fantasy XVI?
Once you’ve progressed through the main story until you reach the “Bolts from the Blue” main scenario quest, you’ll unlock this mark at the hunt board. To find it, teleport in via the Hawk’s Cry Cliff Obelisk in the middle of the Imperial Province of Rosaria.
Head northwest from here past the small town of Amber until you reach the point in the screenshot above. You won’t see the Flan Prince at first until you get close enough and then it will pop out of the ground. It is a level 38 A-rank hunt mark that is known for its powerful magical attacks.
The only problem with this otherwise straightforward fight is that you will likely unlock it in the early level 30s like I did. I was level 31 when I first got this mark and I did successfully complete it on the first try, but it required the use of the Ring of Timely Evasion and wasn’t exactly a breeze this way.
You’re better off waiting until level 35 at least, if you don’t want to risk wasting your time. When you defeat the Muddy Murder mark in Final Fantasy XVI, you’ll receive 12,000 gil, 30 renown points, 95 AP, 5,200 EXP, ability points, and one Gelatinous Mass. You’ll want to keep ahold of that material, as it is useful for making the Drakeslayer’s Gauntlets. The Flan Prince is also the only enemy to drop this material in Final Fantasy XVI.
Final Fantasy XVI is available for the PlayStation 5. A demo is out now as well. There is a six-month exclusivity period.
