What food does Maiko want at Naganaki Shrine?

In May, you can visit the Naganaki Shrine, where you will find a little girl named Maiko. Becoming friends with the child is how you start the Hanged Arcana Social Link in Persona 3 Reload. However, Maiko won’t become your friend until you complete two fetch quests for her.

Sounds easy, right? Well, not so fast, as she doesn’t tell you what food she wants. Thankfully we have explored the map and tracked down the items she wants to unlock her friendship. Here are the Food items Maiko wants:

  • I want food that’s round, hot, and soft: Weird Takoyaki (Octopus).
  • I want something fizzy! That one mad and bitter drink is the best: Mad Bull Drink.

In Persona 3 Reload, the “round, hot, and soft” food item that Maiko wants is the Weird Takoyaki, which can be found at the Iwatodai Station Strip Mall. Open up your Town Map and warp to the mall’s fast travel point.

The Weird Takoyaki can be purchased at the Octopia food vendor, which is located in the righthand corner of the Mall area. Simply walk up to the Octopia vendor and buy the Weird Takoyaki for 400 yen. Don’t worry, though, it’s totally not octopus!

Now that you have obtained the strange food item, return to the Naganaki Shrine and give the Weird Takoyaki to Maiko. Despite its description not sounding the most appetizing, she will be thrilled with your food selection.

However, we aren’t done yet, as the little girl will send you on another errand. After all, you can’t eat food without a drink! The second part of Maiko’s quest tasks us with finding her a “fizzy” drink that is both “mad and bitter.”

The “fizzy, mad, and bitter” drink that Maiko wants is Mad Bull. You may have seen the energy drink already, as it can actually be purchased in the Student Dormitory vending machine on the second floor. If you already have the item, then you are good to go. However, if you don’t have it already, Mad Bull can be found at the Iwatodai Station vending machine in Persona 3 Reload.

Open up your Town Map and warp to the Iwatodai Station fast travel point. As soon as you’ve arrived, take the stairs on the right and walk to the lower level, where you will find a vending machine tucked into the station’s corner. You can purchase the Mad Bull drink for 110 yen.

Now that you have the energy drink in hand return to the Naganaki Shrine one last time and give Maiko the beverage. The little girl will love the drink and will now become friends with you. When she asks you if you will visit her again, make sure to say yes.

However, it should be noted that you will need to return another day if you want to start the Hanged Arcana Social Link. Despite all the errands you ran for Maiko, she will not officially start her friendship with you until later.

Persona 3 Reload is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/ S and PC.
