Where to Find Withers Baldur’s Gate 3

Withers is an optional, but important, NPC players can encounter in Baldur’s Gate 3. This character can thankfully be found in the early game and can provide a necessary service if players find themselves unhappy with their class choice, but don’t want to start a new game. Yes, Withers can change your class in Baldur’s Gate 3, which is what makes him so valuable. Locating him, however, does require players to pass a Perception Check once they do make their way to his location.

How to reach Withers and change your class in Baldur’s Gate 3

Withers can be found in the Ancient Temple, which is marked below. There are a few ways to get into the Ancient Temple, which includes through the front door (which you need a specific key for), a hidden entrance that Astarion can lockpick if you have the right tools (which are just Thieves’ Tools), and through the top where you can Persuade some “treasure hunters” to give up chase and leave.

In the Ancient Temple you will need to navigate to a specific room, which I’ve also marked below and included two screenshots for visual reference. Here you will need to pass the mentioned Perception Check to press a button that will bring all of the skeletons in the room to life. Once you’ve killed these skeletons, you can then open the room. You will find an amulet that will let you speak to the dead, but this isn’t required to speak to Withers. (The item can’t be fed to Gale either, so it’s more or less something to keep around if you’re interested in talking with the dead at any point in the game.)

Thankfully, Withers can change your class as often as you’d like, so long as you have the gold. It only costs 100 gold to change your class (or even multiclass, if you want to redistribute those levels differently). So this gives you the option to change your class fairly easily and fairly early on, since you an make this amount through selling items you’ve pilfered from enemies you’ve killed.

Baldur’s Gate 3 is available for the PC and will release for PS5 on September 6, 2023.
