On February 26, the day the Nintendo 3DS launches in Japan, the system will retail for 25,000 yen ($300). While the price is a leap compared to the Nintendo DSi, Satoru Iwata urges investors not to make console price to portable price ratio comparisons.

When deciding on the price, Iwata mentioned a number of factors during an investors Q&A: the price of hardware, built in software, the upkeep for a healthy business and platform, and the reaction at E3.

Nintendo of America have not announced a price for the Nintendo 3DS yet.
