World Destruction begins in July, heads to the DS in September

Sega’s World Destruction project is more than a Nintendo DS RPG. It’s a media explosion similar to .hack. This July TV Tokyo will broadcast an anime focused on six characters with the intention of destroying the world. Production I.G., the studio behind Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, will take care of the animation. On July 27, the World Destruction universe expands with a manga with a running in Dengeki Ou.

The Nintendo DS game, World Destruction: Michibi Kareshi Ishi, is scheduled for release on September 19 in Japan. Right now Sega’s US branch has not announced any plans about an international release, but the size of the project makes it likely World Destruction is coming to North America. Here’s a look at what we might see in English sometime in the future.
