Typically, Nintendo’s Splatfest events for Splatoon have been different for every region. They aren’t all happening at the same time and there are different topics for each one. However, the Pokémon Splatfest will unite us all. Next weekend, North America, Japan, and Europe will all have a Splatfest attempting to determine which of the original Pokémon titles was the better of the two.
In the North American and European Splatfests, players must side with either Pokémon Red or Pokémon Blue. For people who decide based on which Squid Sister is leading the charge, Callie likes Red and Marie favors Blue. In Japan, the decision is split between Pokémon Red and Pokémon Green. Your Inkling will get a shirt that has Charizard on it if you choose Red, or that has either Venusaur or Blastoise on it if you chose Green/Blue.
Splatoon’s North American Pokémon Splatfest will begin at 10pm PT on February 19, 2016, and then end at 10pm PT on February 20, 2016. Europe’s begins at 05:00 CET on February 20, 2016, ending at 05:00 CET on February 21, 2016. Japan’s happens February 20-21, 2016. While every region will be playing through the same Splatfest at once, you will only be playing against people from your own region during the event.
In addition, Japanese Pokémon Centers will be selling the Pokémon Splatfest t-shirts beginning February 20 in Japan. No word yet on if the online Pokémon Center will sell the same shirts.
Splatoon is immediately available for the Nintendo Wii U.
