The Japanese Xbox.com page says Resident Evil 5 or as it’s known in Japan Biohazard 5 will have content downloads while the US counterpart lists no such feature. Don’t worry Japan isn’t getting special downloadable crossover content with zombie Zangief.

The discrepancy appears to be from the different Resident Evil 5 Limited Edition packages. In Japan, the PlayStation 3 version comes on a hybrid Blu-ray movie/game disc which gave Capcom enough storage space to include the Making of Resident Evil 5 documentary. This extra comes standard in the two disc Resident Evil 5 Collectors Edition released in North America. The Xbox 360 limited edition bundle in Japan only has one DVD which contains the game only. Since Capcom didn’t include the making of specials they threw in a soundtrack CD.

People who purchase Resident Evil 5 for the Xbox 360 version in Japan will still be able to access the making of documentary. Capcom is releasing it as downloadable content which can only be procured by opening the Xbox Live Marketplace window within the game. As of now this promotion is only for Japan. It is unknown if Capcom will eventually release the DVD-like extra content in other regions for free in the future.
