During the press conference Microsoft announced they have plans to bring the Xbox Live Video Marketplace to Canada and Europe this year. No specific TV shows or movies were announced, but at least other regions will be getting something to download this year. They also did not mention if the video marketplace would appear in Asia or Japan. But since Japan is getting the Xbox 360 Elite this year, there is a possibility that Japan will have their own video content too.
Microsoft also announced they partnered with Disney to bring some of their movies on to the video marketplace. Recent films like Déjà vu and Bridge to Terabithia will be online as well as some of the older cartoon films such as Hercules and the Emperor’s New Groove. However, the 90 second montage was missing mega hits like Pirates of the Caribbean, the Lion King and Finding Nemo.
Disney could be saving their best flicks for the future, but it seems like they are purposely leaving out their most popular properties. If Disney is leaving out their megahits, maybe they can bring out some of their aged cartoons like Ducktales.
