As part of the September 2026 Nintendo Direct, we got a Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 Edition release date and confirmation the update will include a new hero named Shimmer and a roguelike Heroes’ Vault mode. The update will show up on December 3, 2026, following a previous confirmation that it would appear at the end of the year.

In the case of the Heroes’ Vault Xenoblade Chronicles 3 roguelike mode, it seems we’ll get more of an overhead view like in games such as Hades and Vampire Survivors. Noah will head out into fights to take down hordes of enemies. As he does, we’ll be able to gain bonuses and even extra allies to help him fight his battles. The goal is to survive until the final boss and defeat it.

As for the new character, the new Xenoblade Chronicles 3 Switch 2 Edition character Glimmer sort of looks like she might be related to a past hero in the series. (No spoilers!) The trailer in the Direct highlighted her appearance and confirmed she can use Foresight.
