Today, Level-5 announced on Twitter that Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch will have online multiplayer battles.
For reference, the original game on Nintendo 3DS did have multiplayer battles, but only locally. It wasn’t until Yo-kai Watch 2 where the game got online multiplayer battles. The Switch version will still allow you to do local VS, but this is an extra option for those who don’t live as close to their friends. That said, as you might expect, it’ll likely need you to join Nintendo Switch Online first.

Yo-kai Watch 1 for Nintendo Switch releases on October 10, 2019 on Nintendo Switch. The game is immediately available on Nintendo 3DS. Check out some new screenshots from the port in our previous report here.
