Nintendo set November 6 as the release date for Yo-kai Watch, the first game in Level-5’s mega popular monster catching game which reimagines Japanese folklore spirits. Players will be able to catch over 200 yo-kai in the game and bring six yo-kai with you in battles.
An animated series based on Yo-kai Watch will debut on Disney XD this fall and Viz will release the bi-monthly Yo-kai Watch manga on November 3. Hasbro is making Yo-Kai Watch toys, collectable medals, and games which will start appearing in January 2016.
The Yo-kai Watch series has been hugely successful in Japan. There’s a store in Tokyo that only sells Yo-kai Watch goods and a Just Dance spinoff game was recently announced for Wii U.
