Nintendo’s Japanese social media account confirmed the company is aware of a Yoshi and the Mysterious Book bug that can affect the Index area. Basically, if you don’t follow typical progression when it comes to features and the Bewilder, you can become trapped in the Index area and unable to complete the game. It noted it is aware of the problem and will release a patch for the game that will fix the problem, prevent it from happening, and allow people to progress.
Basically, after hitting certain milestones in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book, you unlock different parts of Mr. E like the Table of Contents and the Index. The latter comes up after you “finish” four of the six first chapters in the game. Normally, after this would happen, a Mr. E explanation regarding the Index would come up. If you don’t opt to jump to that section to see the list of all characters who you can fast travel to at that point and hear how the Index works, that’s when the issue can arise.
People who instead keep going or jump to the Bewilder Bird search are ones who can be trapped. If you start that and don’t make any discoveries before leaving its level, then go to the Index section, you won’t be able to leave that area. When the eventual patch is released, that should “unlock” things for folks who do get trapped. In the meantime, people should go and see the Index section and its brief explanation the second Mr. E brings it up in-game.
Yoshi and the Mysterious Book is available for the Switch 2 and a patch will be released to fix the Index and Bewilder Bird issue in the future.
