Falcom revealed the latest on Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana’s official website with some new information on character-exclusive skills, along with defensive and evasive actions that will help out in battle.
Skill Attacks
Skills are used by pressing any of the circle, X, triangle, or square buttons while holding down the R button. It consumes SP, and each button has their own corresponding skills that can be set.
Force Edge (skill exclusive to Adol)
An exclusive skill to Adol that makes an aura activate around Adol’s sword and takes down surrounding enemies. It doesn’t have much delay and also has a wide attack range.
Ice Edge (skill exclusive to Dana)
Dana jumps into the sky and hits the ground with a compressed chilled attack. It does great damage to surrounding enemies.
Sylpheed Kiss (skill exclusive to Raskha)
Raksha points her rapier to the sky and brings out a tornado to take out enemies as her exclusive skill attack. This attack is extra effective against flight-type enemies.
Seine (skill exclusive to Sahad)
Sahad throws a seine net towards the area in front of him and damages all enemies that get trapped.
Flash Guard:
By pressing a button to time against an enemy’s attack, you can activate the “Flash Guard.” When performed successfully, it’ll completely nullify all enemy attacks, and will also make all of the player character’s attacks into critical hits for a period of time.
Flash Move:
A “Flash Move” activates when you perform an evasive action right before an enemy attack hits. When activated, it’ll temporarily put the enemy’s movement in slow motion.
Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will release in Japan in summer 2016 for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita.
