NIS America announced it is working with Nihon Falcom to release a Switch 2 port of Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana. That will show up outside Japan on February 25, 2027. It will mark the first time the game appeared on that system, though we already saw it come to the Switch worldwide in June 2018.

While this is a port, there will be a number of new features for this platform, especially compared to the original Switch release. The first is an improved frame rate, as it will run at up to 120fps. (The original stuck around 30fps.) Local and online GameShare support is available for co-op multiplayer. It will also feature a Spanish localization for subtitles for the first time.

Here’s the official trailer that highlights how Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will look on the Switch 2 and also shows off some of the new features for this port.

This isn’t the only new platform for this Ys game. Falcom also confirmed it will show up on Android and Apple iOS devices. Linekong Entertainment Technology will be handling that port. That will appear worldwide too.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will come to the Switch 2 on February 25, 2027. The game is already available on the Switch, PS4, PS5, Vita, and PC.
