Gust’s new RPG: Mana Khemia

While it’s not an official Atelier Iris game, Mana Khemia has a lot of similarities to the series. In Mana Khemia you play as Vain Aurcolus who was recruited to join the school. Vain will meet Philomel Hartung, an alchemy prodigy and Gunnar Damm a well respected senior. Vain is given quests like finding items or searching ruins by the school for the player to complete. After you complete each quest you’re given a grade and then you’re free to roam around the academy until you agree to take another quest. On the field Mana Khemia adds in the concept of time where the sun rises and sets. Also like other games made by Gust there is going to be an alchemy system where you use recipes to make items. Unlike other games making items takes a group of people and it’s up to the player to delegate responsibilities. Mana Khemia is coming out on the Playstation 2 sometime in June 2007. No US release has been announced, but NIS America has been picking up many games made by Gust. Perhaps Mana Khemia is on their localization list.
