"Justifying Operation Darkness is like me justifying a Gundam game, which we can all agree have all been crap..."

Have you ever played the fighting games: Gundam Wing Endless Duel (Super Famicom) and the Gundam Battle Assault games for PS1 ? (there´s also 2 for GBA) Personally, I thought those were great...

I can´t mention others because I haven´t played them, but I could mention a lot of worthy games based on other anime.

"Doesn’t change the fact the game is bad."

"Yes all the games I listed are bonafide bad games. If you like bad games, thats your problem."

So...you don´t think that gaming preferences (as other preferences) are subjective ? Is nobody entitled to disagree with you ? What makes your personal opinion/preference undisputable ?

Not everyone likes the same, deal with it. The only thing that is not subjective about games would be its technical specifications, but those don´t make a game better by itself. Art designs, story, music, gameplay (related to genre), display (2D, 3D, from the top, side scroller, etc), button configurations/interfaces...all subjective.

If you don´t respect other people´s opinions/preferences, nobody will respect yours.

By the way, I don´t think that anyone here has said that they like every game that Atlus/NIS published...I don´t even know if there´s people out there who have played them all (doubtful). But even if that were the case, I don´t see how it affects you.

"Yet, I have friends that are completely disillusioned by the the current crop of low-budget, Otaku anime-fetish style rpg/srpgs."

And let me remind you that there´s a lot of "mediocre" (based on reviews and sales) western games out there, and JRPGs and SRPGs are much rare in the US than FPS or other western games. If it weren´t for Atlus and NIS, we would practically get only Square-Enix and Bandai-Namco RPGs (those that they choose to release), which is a really small part of what the Japanese produce.

And personally, I´m an anime fan that cares more about japanese games than western games...and I don´t see what´s wrong with that. There´s a lot of people in the US that mostly play M rated western games along some racing/sport games. I respect their preference, and I think mine should be respected as well.

BTW, I'm interested in Poison Pink (Eternal Poison), the gothic CG reminds me of Shadow Hearts. I might reserve my judgement until I hear more reviews, but for now this intrigues me.

I have only played the Operation Darkness demo so far and it has alrdy enticed me to buy the game, I'm just looking for the Jpn version (for cheap) since the US version is region locked. It felt fresh for an SRPG to use guns and rocket lauchers instead of swords and magic even some might discount it as superficial. I don't know how it's bad though, unless you think SRPG is inherently a tedious genre which consumes a lot of time.

Plus anything w/ Nazi and the occult makes it automatically cool (Hellboy). The camera might be frustrating to wrestle w/, but not game-breaking compared to Sonic PS3 which is an action game. OP is not perfect and could use improvement, but it was fun to play.

No, not all game are good and I have certainly regretted some of my game purchases. As long as one has fun w/ the games, who cares, that's the bottom line.

BTW, I'm not a rogue fan at all, Izuna was my first and I loved it, even though it was hard for me, and Izuna 2 only improves on it right, so I don't know how that could be bad. I'm interested in trying out Baroque (and now the upcoming Int'l version), but I'm scared of the unforgiving diffculty, lol.

Somedude, you got some bad taste in games.

I do love srpgs. Good ones. Summon Night series, Disgea, SRW, Final Fantasy Tactics

Why you people would rather play Operation Darkness or Spectral Force 3 than this

is beyond me.

byrc: You're a 'tard. Operation Darkness is not "a bad game". Sorry if you don't like SRPGs. I happened to like the fact that it dropped most of the swords and spears for rocket launchers and bullets. Have you even played Spectral Force 3? I'm guessing no. You're probably just one of those people who looked at it and said, "Idea Factory. No."

The game system is actually really well done. It's not a "bad game". Sorry to break this to you, but your opinion actually counts for nothing.

In addition, MS Saga (a Gundam game, even though it doesn't have Gundam in the name) is actually not bad, either.

If you like everything that Atlus USA or NISA publishes then you are a fanboy (that includes you too girls). Simple as that. I'm sorry, but its the truth.

Honestly I have no problems with this flood of shovelware releases. Yet, I have friends that are completely disillusioned by the the current crop of low-budget, Otaku anime-fetish style rpg/srpgs. Do I love those types of games, I sure do, the more the better, but I know in my logical objective brain that these games are low-budget half-assed developed games that are meant to entice the Otaku demographic.

Justifying Operation Darkness is like me justifying a Gundam game, which we can all agree have all been crap, (except Gundam Universe, because it has the Nu-Gundam DFF), see what I did there...

Alright, yes everyone has the right to make whatever the game they want or publish whatever game they want. Doesn't change the fact the game is bad.

First, Izuna 1/2 is very bad even by rogue-game standards. Operation Darkness...ok if you think Operation Darkness is good, then you got some serious problems.

You know I dont' subscribe to the philosophy that everyones opinions hold the same water and that everything under the sun is good. There are such things as bad games people. Half of you posters pretty much implied that there are no such things as bad games, because someone out there likes it. I'm sorry there are such things as bad games, and Operation Darkness is a prime example of one. Spectral Force 3 is another example.

I"m not saying Atlus USA only publishes bad games, I actually like a lot of the games Atlus USA publishes, but that doesn't mean they dont' publish bad games.

Yes all the games I listed are bonafide bad games. If you like bad games, thats your problem.

You know someone out there actually Dakitana, doesn't change the fact it was horrible piece of shit game.

Hey I like shitty games too. Luminous Arc and Arc Tonelico are my guilty pleasures. Yet even I concede that they aren't good games.

Am I busting my nut because Atlus is releasing Luminous Arc 2, of course I am, but i'm not going to justify my purchase of it.
