Kazuyoshi Yaginuma mentioned on his bulletin board he finished the ending illustrations for Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon R… a game that Namco Bandai hasn’t announced. Whoops!

According to Yaginuma, Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon R is for PSP, a system he doesn’t have. Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon was released a decade ago on Game Boy Color. Maybe Narikiri Dungeon R is a remake or maybe it’s related to the Narikiri Dungeon X trademark we dug up earlier this month.

    :( I want it in 2D sprites…PSP=3D =_=

    • cowcow

I want it in cel shaded 3D

    • Hraesvelgr

Well, it’s better than DS 3D, I suppose.

hope it comes to the US/… *sugh*

    • Hraesvelgr

I don’t. If they want to localize a Tales game, localize something that’s worth the trouble.

      • epy

Man you hate a lot. Hope it gets here, but with Vesperia, Graces and Radiant Mythology 2 unannounced it seems very unlikely.

        • Masengan

Yeah we can only hope, even if the odds are stacked against us.

        • Hraesvelgr

That hurts my feelings. I don’t hate, I’m just massively opinionated!

  • Yuan

I’m rather surprised though, they want to bring Narikiri Dungeon to PSP… Thought for sure it’s for DS… As PSP has Radiant Mythology… But then, that’s mean RM3 won’t be around for a while…
Hope they make this one 2D. But I don’t know why I’m imagining they’ll make it 3D so that they can squeeze their fans for the DLC Costume…

We all knew it would happen eventually.

Now, talking about ‘unexpected things’ mentioned from the interview… This year marks 15th anniversary of Tales Series, and also 10th anniversary of the first Narikiri…

  • Kris

Anyone know if ToP still holds up? I’m considering getting the PS1 version.

    • EvilAkito

The PS1 version holds up pretty well. The SNES and GBA versions aren’t so great though.

    • malek86

Do it. Just, steer clear of the GBA version.

    • http://denpanosekai.blogspot.com denpanosekai

      It’s a beauty.

    • conchobhar

      It doesn’t.

    • Masengan

Yep, specially with the great translations floating around.

  • BlueBlazer

Could this guy be wrong, I mean, Nrikiri Dungeon is a NINTENDO tales series, radiant mithology is PSP problem ~_~

    • conchobhar

So? Nintendo doesn’t have any involvement in the series.

  • kupomogli

I like how Namco decides to use more money creating a brand new game than just localize a sequel that the original only sold 70,000 more in Japan. It’s not like the PSP userbase grew any larger in the western regions. /sarcasm.

    • Hraesvelgr

They’re probably thinking 70k is better than whatever they could get in the west.

  • Vino (Tim N)

Its an awesome game when I played it through ROMS. I wouldn’t mind playing it again, battle system in Tales of games are always great.
