Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon Cross Is A Double Dose Of Remakes

By Spencer . March 9, 2010 . 11:32pm

Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon Cross Is A Double Dose Of Remakes This year Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon, the first direct Tales sequel, turn ten. Namco Bandai is celebrating by remaking the Game Boy Color game and Tales of Phantasia. Both games will be bundled on one UMD.

Shonen Jump notes this Tales of Phantasia remake will have differences like a combat system revision, which makes it different from Tales of Phantasia: Full Voice Edition. The Narikiri Dungeon part has been graphically overhauled and tiny screenshots show four characters fighting at the same time. Didn’t the original game only have three in a party?

Tales of Phantasia: Narikiri Dungeon Cross is due in stores later this year.

    Japan-only, as usual.

  • nyoron

Wait, they're remaking ToP again? For a system that it's already on? What the hell guys.

Cool, another TOP remake. Just what we needed. And I bet it will never leave Japan, like the previous version.

  • Masengan

    My thoughts exactly.

  • vall03

whenever its Tales, its expected… *sigh*

Namco Bandai localization wheel of fortune time!

  • Extra_Life

Please, Namco, please just localize this version of ToP… I want a legit version of this game that doesn't lose my saves when the cart battery dies!

  • SoulCaster

Guys you forget, this is a PSP “Tales of” game, so it has got a good chance of coming over here. Because you know, Namco Bandai seems hell bent on not releasing any of the “Tales of” NDS games here…

How they ever planned on making “Tales of” series a worldwide success with 90% of them remaining in Japan is beyond my understanding…

Also, a legit version that doesn't suck.

  • thebanditking

Great! Chances of western release, slim to none. Curse you Bamco……..

  • jj984jj

Especially when it's 2D and on a portable, that's like taboo for Namco Hometek.

  • Yuan

Though it's just treated as a bonus to the main game, its spin-off sequel.
A nice bonus for those who want to buy the main game and hasn't play the first game.

  • Yuan

But I think it's even more difficult because it's PSP. ToEP wasn't localized in US, and sales for PSP software seems to be difficult to move the heavy heart of Bannam in US.
They tried to gain that success again (after ToS) with ToV for XBOX 360 exclusively…

  • Tako Tacos

Good chance? Is this sarcasm? Tales of Eternia PSP was Europe only, and neither Radiant Mythology 2 or Tales of VS were released here. And neither will this, unfortunately.

Sounds tasty, can't wait to get my hands on it ;)

  • Pichi

Very close to not caring about Tales titles because of Namco Hometek.

  • vall03

same here, sooner or later, if none of the newer games starts to get localized, Im seriously going to ignore the whole series like they didnt even exist…

  • rock1644

At this point, I am just going to wing it and play these games in Japanese. I am sick of Namco not bringing their Tales games out here because they expect them to sell like Final Fantasy, despite the fact none of the games have even come close to that series' sales.

  • Saturnus

No kidding, I'm getting tired of this crap.

  • SoulCaster

At least the PSP got a few “Tales of” games in English, even if one of them was exclusive to Europe. While the “Tales of” games on the NDS have remain exclusive.

So I sort of have this mentality that PSP “Tales of” games equal hope for an English release while NDS “Tales of” games equal not a chance in hell…

Hypocritically enough, Namco Bandai localized DBZ: Attack of the Saiyans, which is 2D!

  • epy

    :(

  • B4ULoveShine

Everybody knows by now that IT'S OVER 9000 times busy with Dragonball, to the point Namco Bandai has been willing to neglect its 'flagship'.

  • jj984jj

I was talking about Tales specifically. None of the 2D console games on PS2 or PSP ports/remakes as well as Tales of Hearts have made it over, and the only portable game Hometek has brought over is Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology.

Thankfully they had just acquired the DB license from Atari and have been trying to make the best of that be localizing all their games using that license so far. I doubt that will continue for long though!

Thankfully they had just acquired the DB license in North America and have been trying to make the best of that be localizing all their games using that license so far. I doubt that will continue for long though!
