This Week In Sales: Konami Take A Swing With Powerful Golf

By Ishaan . March 23, 2011 . 4:02pm

Period: The week of March 14th – March 20th (2011)

Top-seller: Dynasty Warriors 7 – 67,475 | Total Sales: 320,565

Nintendo 3DS sales: 61,394 | Total sales: 742,244

The week of March 14th – 20th didn’t see much in the way of new releases, so there isn’t a whole lot to talk about. Dynasty Warriors 7 hung on to its #1 position for a second week in a row, and Dissidia 012 and Professor Layton stood their ground as well. Meanwhile, Disgaea 4 has dropped off the top-20 chart.

A couple 3DS games dropped out of the top-20 this week as well, including Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition, but you can get an idea for how that was doing by looking at last week’s sales chart. Ridge Racer 3D isn’t in the top-20 either.

In terms of new releases, Konami released Powerful Golf — you can read about the golf adventure game here — while sold 10,125, and was followed closely by an Idea Factory title, Hanaoni: Begin to Carve the Mark of Eternity, at 10,021. Finally, further down the chart was Splinter Cell 3D by Ubisoft.

They still sold about 250K pieces of software even after that event? I guess entertainment is as vital as ever. RK is more popular than Fairy Tail? Hiro Mashima is awesome, why arent more people buying this epic series! It has my Natsu and Gray (That gray) and possibly the precious and lovely Ultear and Juvia.

You do know that Rurouni Kenshin is a classic and was really really big right? Chances are any regular person in Japan would know about the title, just like Dragonball, Saint Seiya, YuYu Hakusho, Slam Dunk, it had taken a generation by storm. Think of it as Bleach or Naruto for that time except better. Wish Saisen was a better game though.. but it isn’t.. not even fans liked it…

Yeah, there still seem to be quite a few Kenshin fans around. I’d seen your other comments about the game. Shame they didn’t put a bit more effort into it as none of the previous RK games seemed to be very good. I could see a Way of the Samurai style game based on it working, but the combat would definitely have to be well polished.

I just want them to retell the main story and recreate every single fight instead of making an original story though like the PS1 RPG.. shame indeed the PSP game was pretty sloppy as they just milked Kenshin’s 15th anniversary.. There actually weren’t that even much spoken dialogue other than a few lines, most of it was just text…

They better use the money to finish Jinchuu TV :(.. but even then I’m not so sure how the animation today would hold up (it’s like the Dragonball Kai eyecatches look so weird compared to the old animatoin). If they could make a BlazBlue/MvC3 kind of game for Kenshin, I think Watsuki and many fans would be very happy..

Japan knows their stuff…Should be everywhere like this.

And people buy DW7 – Its amazing.
