Rumour: Leon, Ada And Chris Return In Resident Evil 6

Rumour has it that Capcom will reveal Resident Evil 6 today. While we’ll find out whether or not that is the case soon enough, VentureBeat are reporting what they say are details provided by an anonymous source on the game’s development team.

 

According to VentureBeat’s source, Resident Evil 6 will allow you to play as both Leon Kennedy and Chris Redfield, each with their own separate stories taking place in different cities. Both Leon and Chris will have their own partners, and Ada Wong will be playable in the game after a certain point as well.

 

In addition to the Chris and Leon stories, a third story arc featuring a new character will be available as well. Resident Evil 6 reportedly takes place across the globe, and while Leon and Chris are involved in different events, their stories overlap in some way.

VentureBeat add that the game is being developed by the same internal team at Capcom that worked on Resident Evil 5, and that the dev team is hoping to find a middle ground between Resident Evil 4 and Resident Evil 5.

 

In related news, a reader has sent IGN images (right) of what he says are posters sent out to GameStop to promote the game. What you see on the poster is allegedly the logo for Resident Evil 6, mentioning a release date of November 20th.

      Jill seems to have most of the spotlight in Revelations, thankfully. I’d be bored of having to play as Chris all the time, too.

        I’m sure people missed playing Leo and other noteworthy characters, so I think they’re good. I wouldn’t mind Sheva coming back though.

        I hope so. I was on the fence about Revelations because of the enhanced-port that is bound to happen but the demo was so damn good.

            I said it’s bound to happen. Not that it’s been announced. Besides RE0 none of the games have stayed on one platform or only had one release. They usually add more content the second time around.

    from the same team of RE5? good news for me, since im one of those few that think that RE5 coop experience its the best on the series. lets hope this time i can move and shoot.

      I can certainly see the appeal of RE5, especially in regard to co-op, but it’s really a different game. I think they’d have been better making it a spin off series like Survivor.

    Oh god I feel so bad for Leon. Can’t read of those goddamn zombies. That said, I hope they don’t screw up our image of Leon with a action-tastic game like RE5.

    I don’t think it’s real, RE 6 is going to come out, but i don’t think Capcom would let this slip via promotional image before operation racoon city and revelations comes out. I think e3 would be the best time to reveal it.

    Oh lord this has got to be the best RE news I’ve heard in a long time; seeing how both RE4 and 5 took ~5 years to develop, I wasn’t expecting RE6 till at least Q4 2013…this is just orgasmic.

    Well adding in my favorite characters of the series is a great way to finally get me to play a mainline Resident Evil game. Ada is hot, Leon is cool.

    So many Chris haters… anyway I hope he’s there. He’s badass and just a cool dude. I wish Claire & Jill were there too.

    And man I’m so excited if it’s really Resident Evil 6 – it’s one of my all time favorite franchises after all! I loved 5th too.

    what ever happened with the return of Steve? (I have heard that he is actually still alive)

    I have to roll my eyes at Capcom’s obsession with focusing on the male characters, as if it’s so absolutely impossible that people can handle the idea of playing as someone with boobs instead of someone with a penis within the main series.

    Still, I’m okay with it so far. I’m hoping this time, Capcom stops the stupid idea of trying to replace the old female leads with hot new ones, and instead allows Jill to partner with Chris and Claire to partner with Leon. That would especially be most appropriate given this is supposed to be part of the anniversary. Would be kind of stupid to claim the game is going to be part of a tribute to the series’ existence while completely ignoring or downplaying the female half of the games that introduced the two males.

      What? RE0, RE1,Code Veronica, RE3 and Revelations all have main female leads. Just because they’ve had Chris everywhere as of late doesn’t mean they have some obsession with male characters. Capcom is just forcing Chris down our throats like they are with Frank West.

    I hope this game is not small time like RE5, i know it’s hard to live to the high standards of a classic like RE4, but Capcom can do better than just trying to rehash it like they did with 5.

    Yes. Fantastic choices, Capcom. Badass Leon and sexy *whistles* Ada are fantastic characters indeed! I really hope Jill and Sheva will return as well (well most likely Jill may return, but I hope Sheva comes along). I’m so glad that those two are back though.

    I thought Leon was really hot in RE4 and Ada was smokin’ hot, too, so I hope they keep their look in RE6, if the rumor is true. ♡＾▽＾♡

        Just saw the trailer, which I apparently missed, and although I think the game looks amazing so far, I kind of wish Leon looked a little more like he did in RE4. (´＿｀。)

        I think Leon looks pretty sexy, don’t get me wrong, but I feel like he looks a little out-of-character, or something.

        I think it’s his clothes. Although he looks cool with that leather jacket, I can’t help but feel he’s in some sort of mid-life crisis. （*＾ワ＾*）

    They should really wrap up whatever happened to Sherry Birkin.  The last we hear of her was a paragraph about Leon leaving her in government care… and that was it.

    Barry and Rebecca at least have non-canon cameos.

    The existence of Leon, the lack of Claire, Chris very likely having his RE5 personality, not to mention current gen capcom. I’m going to have to set my skepticism index to 85%

    Even though I’d like to see Claire and Rebecca back, I think having Chris and Leon together in a game would be great. Hopefully they’ll show them working together and finally curb the endless Chris vs Leon debate.

    Chris is my favorite RE character anyway, so I’m always happy to see him. Leon is alright too, I guess… >_>

    The Hong Kong night setting looks nice (at least it looks very much like HK), the dark alleys and neon signs should make for some pretty scary atmosphere.. and there’s lots of chaos too like all hell breaks loose..  and that’s one fast jumping zombie!  Looking forward to more Leon, Ashley, Chris, and Ada :) I’m easily scared so won’t have any problem w/ an RE game being not scary :) And Jill looks nice in Revelations, in RE5 I think her face just looked weird…
